Obituary

Mathilde Reikeraas was born on July 4, 1887, near Bergen, Norway, to the parents Ole Olson Reikeraas, and his wife Sygne. She was baptized unto Christ, received instruction in Christianity, and confessed her Christian faith in her youth.

On September 13, 1914, she was united in marriage to Leonard Hanson at Bergen, Norway. Mr. and Mrs. Hanson came to America immediately upon their marriage, to Eagle Grove, Iowa, where they have since lived, and where Mr. Hanson has been engaged in business.

Three children were born to the Hanson's, these now together with Mr. Hanson mourn the loss of a kind and sympathetic wife and mother. They are Mrs. LaVonne Hall, Eagle Grove, Orval Hanson of Iowa City, and Lloyd Hanson of Eagle Grove. She is also survived by one grandchild, Shirley Jean Hall, and by four sisters, here in America. These are: Mrs. Josephine Satterlund, Seattle, Wash.; Miss Nellie Reikeraas, Portland, Ore.; Mrs. Elene Holt, Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. Andrea Lee, Everett, Wash.; and as far as we know she has three sisters and two brothers still in Norway.

Mrs. Hanson was a quiet, unassuming lady, tender and considerate of her family. For many years she suffered from illness, and thus was not able to mingle with neighbors and friends and attend church services as we may when we are well. She was several times at the hospital, where she also passed away. She was appreciative of the ministry offered her in her sickness. She died May 27, 1943 at the age of 55 years, 10 months, and 23 days.

Funeral services were held Monday, May 31 from the home and from the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran church.
