6 June 1915 ---- 24 May 2000

MR. JOSEPH MARLEY HALL:
A native of Iowa and a resident of Mobile since 1982, died May 24, 2000 at home. He was born June 6, 1915 in Salem, Indiana to the late James Marley Hall and Eva Paynter Hall. Mr. Hall was also preceded in death by his first wife, La Vonne Hall; his sisters, Marjorie Jane Baker and Grace Evelyn Wood; brothers, James Paynter (Florence) Hall and Harlan Christian Hall. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Isbill Hall; his children, Shirley (Jerry) Riley of Webster City, IA and Daniel and Joseph Lindsay of Chicago, IL as well as nieces and nephews. He is also survived by one step-daughter, Jean (David) Steelman; step grandchildren, David (Marilyn) and Michael Steelman of Mobile and James Steelman of Hollywood, FL, step great-grandchildren, Jordan Steelman of Mobile and William and Kelli Steelman of Hollywood, FL.

Prior to retirement, Mr. Hall worked at radio station KVFD and at Crouse Cartage Transportation Company in Fort Dodge, IA. He was well known for his participation in the Fort Dodge Community Theatre and the Community Chorus. He also served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. After retirement Mr. Hall moved to Mobile where he was a member of Dauphin Way Baptist Church. He was actively involved in the Men's Prayer Group and the Senior Adult Bible Class. For several years after moving to Mobile, Mr. Hall traveled with Alabama Campers on Missions, a ministry of the Home Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention, helping to build or repair church facilities in Alabama, Indiana, and Missouri. In 1992, he began working as a volunteer in the Bible Correspondence Ministry with Source of Light Ministries Inc. in Madison, GA. In 1995, he established the Mobile Branch of Source of Light and continued this until his death. Many lives have been changed and hearts encouraged by his dedication to the study of God's Word.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 27, 2000 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Pine Crest Funeral Home. Visitation will begin one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in [Eagle Grove] Iowa. Arrangements are by Pine Crest Funeral Home, 1939 Dauphin Island Pkwy., Mobile, Alabama.
