Obituary
(By Rev. T. J. Severtson)

Anna Belle Thompson was born to the parents William and Sophia Thompson at Norway, Iowa, Nov. 17, 1866, and passed away from this life at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Vinnie Christensen at Mason City, Iowa, Saturday morning, April 9, 1938, at the age of 71 years, 4 months, and 23 days.

She was united with Christ in baptism in the Lutheran church at Norway, Iowa, and confessed her Christian faith, and grew to womanhood in that vicinity. In 1883 she was united in marriage to John O. Johnson and that same year moved to Eagle Grove, which has since been her home. Mr. Johnson passed away on Sunday, July 4, 1937. Since his passing, Mrs. Johnson has lived here in Eagle Grove in her home, visiting at times with her daughter at which occasion the last summons now came to her.

She is survived by her four children, Wm. Elmer, Mason City; Mrs. Vinnie Christensen, also of Mason City; Mrs. Verna Dearth of Eagle Grove; and Leo J. Johnson, Long Beach, Calif.; and by three grandchildren, James, Robert, and Hildreth. One son died in infancy. She is also survived by one brother, William Thompson, Concord, Calif.

Mrs. Johnson was a kindhearted and friendly lady, a good wife and mother. She was keenly interest in the welfare of her community and in that respect was a good helpmate for her public-spirited husband. She was a very active member of her church and often served as officer of the ladies organizations. Her help and support could always be depended upon. She was a constant attendant at the public worship of the church. Her Bible and daily devotional book were daily used. She loved her Saviour.

Her health had been failing for some time though she never complained and was able to care for herself until she became worse the day before she passed away. She swept away quietly.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from her church and burial was made in the family lot in Rose Hill cemetery.

Relatives and friends from out of town attending the funeral were: Henry Tuttle, Miss Ruby Tuttle, Royal Tuttle, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Tow, all of Norway, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. John C. Olson, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Rosedail, Mrs. Elmer Peterson, of Linn Grove; Mrs. Severin Hovey and daughter of Badger; Mrs. S. A. Bernis and daughter, Iris, Mrs. Ruth Hanson, Mrs. Dora Liesveld, Mrs. O.
