Charles Raymond James
25 June 1876 ---- 4 April 1936

Chas. R. James died at his farm home in Troy township Saturday after a ten-day siege of pneumonia. He had not been feeling well for about three weeks. About a week prior to his death, he collapsed near the barn on his farm and was carried into the house and placed in bed and a doctor summoned. He was found to have a fever of 105 and a trained nurse was placed in charge. And when his condition failed to improve, a consultation of physicians was held. But in spite of all that could be done, the ravages of the dread disease could not be stopped. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon and burial was in Rose Hill cemetery.

Mr. James was a very successful farm operator, a hard worker and devoted his entire time to the supervision of the some 1800 acres of land he owned, much of which was clear. He was fair and honorable in all his business dealings and his untimely passing is greatly regretted.
