14 February 1863 ---- 15 October 1936

August Kluckhohn, 73, died while driving his car up Commercial Ave. about 5 o'clock Thursday afternoon. He was alone at the time. A car passed him and after passing, the driver heard a crash and looked around and saw the Kluckhohn car had crashed into a telephone pole. Mr. Kluckhohn sat at the wheel. He was uninjured by the accident; his death being caused by heart failure. A doctor was summoned and then Corner Walker called, and he diagnosed the reason for Mr. Kluckhohn's passing as angina pectoris.

Obituary

August Kluckhohn, son of August and Wilhelmina Kluckhohn, was born at Stitzer, Wis., February 14, 1863, and died at Eagle Grove, Iowa, October 15, 1936, at the age of 73 years, 8 months, and 1 day.

He grew to manhood at Stitzer, where he also received his education. When 25 years of age he came to Iowa and settled on a farm in Troy township, Wright county.

He was united in marriage with Miss Lena Busch at Wilson, Wis., on Nov. 2, 1904. To them was born one daughter, Elizabeth, now of Bloomfield Iowa. Soon after their marriage they came to their farm in Troy township, where they resided until March 1928, when they retired and moved to Eagle Grove, where they have since resided.

Mr. Kluckhohn united with the Methodist Episcopal church when a lad and has since remained in happy relationship with his church. He was a good friend and neighbor, who was always interested in the things which were for the best interest of the community.

Failing health in recent years kept him rather close to his home. On Thursday afternoon he drove his car to his farm and when returning was stricken after reaching the city limits and was found seated behind the wheel of his car on South Commercial avenue, his soul having taken flight, his life work finished.

He leaves to mourn his sudden going, his beloved wife and daughter and two sisters and four brothers: Mrs. Paul Hoffman of Eagle Grove, Matilda Kluckhohn of Stitzer, Edward Kluckhohn of Rockford, Albert Kluckhohn of Blackfoot, Idaho, Arthur Kluckhohn of Belgrade, Montana and Clarence Kluckhohn of Stitzer. Besides these of his immediate family, there are a number of nephews and nieces, besides other relatives and a host of friends who will miss him greatly.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the Methodist church with the Rev. W. L. Breaw, in charge. Interment was in the Rose Hill cemetery.

Those from out of town who attended the funeral included Mr. and Mrs. Edward Kluckhohn of Rockford, Ellis and Ottmer Kluckhohn of Odebolt, Matilda and Clarence Kluckhohn of Stitzer, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Frevert of Odebolt and Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Dannenberg of Storm Lake.
