Henry Jacobson Orsland
February 1860 ---- 20 December 1936

Henry J. Orsland, 75, died early Sunday morning at his home in this city after several months severe illness. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the East Side Lutheran church.

Henry J. Orsland was born to the parents, Jacob and Dorothea Orsland in February 1860, in Tysver, [Tysvær] Haugesund, Norway, and died in his home at Eagle Grove, Iowa, Dec. 20, 1936, at the age of 76 years and 10 months.

He was baptized into Christ, received instruction, and confessed his Christian faith in his youth. In 1873 he came with his parents and family to U. S. A. to Story county, Iowa, where they lived a few years, then moved to Webster county, between Badger and Thor, which was their home for many years.

On June 10, 1905, he was united in marriage to Miss Gusta Berg. In 1907 Mr. and Mrs. Orsland moved to Eagle Grove which has since been their home.

He is now survived by his wife and one adopted daughter, Mrs. Borghild Wingard, and three grandchildren, also by two brothers, Tom and Jens Orsland, and three sisters, Elizabeth and Mrs. Martha Holm, and Mrs. Lena Toresdahl, together with a large number of relatives and friends.

Mr. Orsland was a quiet, unassuming man, very reliable and honest in all his affairs. He was kind and friendly to all whom he met, a dutiful husband and a good neighbor. He loved his church and confessed that he trusted his Saviour for the full forgiveness of all sins, looking forward to eternal life.
