Mrs. Esther Mary Farmer, 88, passed away Monday afternoon at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Madison.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Methodist church.

Services for Mrs. Esther Farmer were held at the Goldfield Methodist church Thursday, March 9, with Rev. Robert Kessinger in charge. Burial was made in Glenwood cemetery.

Mary Esther Russell was born Sept. 9, 1861, and passed away on March 6, 1950, at the age of 88 years, 5 months and 27 days.

On Nov. 27, 1879, she was married to Fred B. Farmer. To this union was born seven sons and three daughters. Mrs. Farmer was preceded in death by Mr. Farmer in 1935 and five sons, Claude, Russell, Walter, Wesley and Frank. One daughter, Mrs. Mae Lockwood.

Those left to mourn her passing are two sons, Fred B. of Los Angeles, Calif., and McKinley W. of Cedar Rapids; two daughters, Mrs. Lucy Madison, Eagle Grove, and Mrs. Esther Oviatt, Goldfield; 26 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Farmer and family, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Farmer and son, Mrs. Eileen Farmer, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Bernacki, Mrs. Leland Hite and son, Miss Berniece Madison, all from Cedar Rapids, James Madison of Rowley, Fred Farmer, Jr., of Storm Lake, Mrs. Louis Bauer of Waterloo, Messrs. F. H. and H. A. Lockwood and Mrs. Gerald McConnell and children of Cedar Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Matthew and daughter of Spencer, Miss Mary Oviatt of Eagle Grove, John of Clarion, Mrs. J. W. Sykes of Woolstock, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Madison of Woden, Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Smith and Miss Joan Cannon of Ft. Dodge, Mr. and Mrs. Olaus Olson of Thor, Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Morse of Bode, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Danskin of Marengo.
