Former Engineer Frank (Ted) Wright died at his home in this city at 5 a.m. Monday. For nearly seven years he has been fighting off a throat ailment which was diagnosed as a form of cancer. Treatment at Rochester, Minn. proved of some benefit, but the doctors there some six years ago predicted that he had but a few months to live. But he fought off the ravages of the disease and by sheer will power prolonged his life for a number of years. During the summer and fall months, his condition grew steadily worse, and the end was but a matter of time.

Mr. Wright was born on a farm near Eagle Grove April 18, 1881. He attended Eagle Grove high school and then went to work for the Northwestern railroad as fireman, starting Dec. 21, 1901. He was promoted to engineer, Feb. 15, 1906, terminating his service with the railroad when sickness made continuance impossible. He was then placed on the pension list after nearly 30 years of continuous, faithful service.

He was an active member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, serving as local chairman for seven years.

He was united in marriage to Viola Welsh on Feb. 15, 1905 to which union were born a son, George Wright, an attorney located in Eagle Grove, and a daughter, Helen Wright, a registered nurse located at Rochester, Minn., all of whom survive him.
