Albert John Peterson
11 April 1877 --- 15 November 1943

A.J. Peterson passed away Monday, November 15 at the Lutheran Hospital in Hampton. He had been in poor health for the past nine years. He became seriously ill seven weeks ago and taken to the Lutheran Hospital where he submitted to a major operation. He failed to make recovery and steadily grew worse. Mr. Peterson had taken an active part in the affairs of the town of Dows, having served as town treasurer for the past 24 years. For two years previous to his appointment as town treasurer he had served as town clerk. In spite of his ill health he had always been interested in every improvement in the town of Dows.

Mr. Peterson came to Dows in 1910 as manager of the Dows Lumber Company, later the Lambert Lumber Company. He held that position until his health broke in 1943 and he had to give up his work. In addition to his wife he leaves three sons and three grandchildren. The sons are Pvt. (f.c.) Darwin stationed with the U.S. Army in England; Cpl. Willard of Idaho and Leonard of St. Paul. Willard and Leonard have been in Dows during the serious illness of their father. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the First Lutheran Church. Burial was made in the Fairview Cemetery.
