George William Kell
11 April 1852 --- 5 November 1935

George William, son of George and Elizabeth Kell, was born in Rock Island county, Ill., April 11th, 1852 and passed away at his home in Eagle Grove early Tuesday morning, Nov. 5 at the age of 83 years, 6 months, and 24 days.

Mr. Kell was married to Mary Clapp July 1st, 1880 in Rock Island, Ill., and to this union were born 3 children, Myrtle Clauson, and Ernest, both of Eagle Grove, and Raymond of Kenyon, Minn.

The family moved to Palo Alto county, Iowa in 1888 where they farmed until 1906, when they moved to Eagle Grove and purchased the Green hotel on the East side. Mr. Kell also operated a livery on the corner of Wright and Second St. North. He was well and favorably known in and around Eagle Grove. He loved nice horses and drove a fine black team for several years.

He leaves to mourn his death his wife, and three children, seven grandchildren, one brother of Moline, Ill., and one sister, Lizzie Crawford of Davenport.

Mr. Kell was as well as usual when he retired Monday evening. When Mrs. Kell went to call him Tuesday, she found he had passed away some time early in the morning.

Funeral services were held last Thursday afternoon at 2 in the Kubitschek & Kastle Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. J. G. Eaton. He was laid to rest in Rose Hill cemetery to await the coming of the Lord.
