Margaret Maland was born in Hjelmeland, Norway, Jan. 2, 1830. She was united in marriage to Tjeran Askvig in 1853. To this union were born eight children, four sons and four daughters.

Six children and her husband preceded her in death, she being a widow for 44 year. She came to this country in 1880. For the past thirty years she has made her home with her son, Jacob Askvig, where she passed away Feb. 18, 1923, having reached the age of 93 years, 1 month and 17 days.

She leaves to mourn her death, one daughter, Mrs. Henry Forster, of Sycamore, Ill., her son already mentioned, sixteen grandchildren thirteen great-grandchildren, and a host of friends.

Interment took place at Holmes, Tuesday Feb. 20th.
