Jacob Askvig, 89, died Tuesday morning at 3 a. m. at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Andy Anderson on North Iowa Avenue. He had been sick for about three weeks.

Funeral services will be held in the West Side Lutheran church in Eagle Grove at 3 p. m. Thursday. Interment will be at the Holmes cemetery.

Mr. Askvig is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Andy Anderson, Mrs. Raymond Jordan, Mrs. Carrie Skogeboe of Eagle Grove and Mrs. Sig. Kvale of Goldfield.

Jacob T. Askvig, son of Tjeran and Margaret Askvig, was born September 11, 1859 near Stavanger, Norway. He was baptised and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. At the age of twenty-two he came to America and settled near New Rochelle, Illinois.

In the year 1890 he was united in marriage to Ane Tysdal. To this union four girls were born, namely, Tillie, Mrs. Raymond Jordan of Eagle Grove. Iowa, Minnie, Mrs. Skogeboe of Eagle Grove, Iowa, Selma, Mrs. Sigvart Kvale of Goldfield, Iowa, and Josephine, Mrs. Andrew Anderson of Eagle Grove, Iowa. They also made a home for Harold Carlson, deceased, and Ruth Ulstad Johnson.

Mr. and Mrs. Askvig farmed in Illinois, for twenty-five years. They moved to Iowa in 1915 and for sixteen years farmed southeast of Goldfield, Iowa. Mr. Askvig retired from farming and moved to Goldfield, Iowa where he lived seven years. Because of failing health, they moved to Eagle Grove where they have made their home with their youngest daughter, Mrs. Andrew Anderson, there Mr. Askvig passed away September 28, 1948, at the age of 89 years, 2 weeks and 2 days.

Mr. Askvig leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, four daughters, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, a host of relatives and friends. He was a kind and loving husband and father and will be greatly missed by loved ones and all who knew him. He bore his illness with patience, never complaining. He left everything in the hands of his heavenly Father and anxiously awaited the moment to come when he would be called to his heavenly home.

Funeral services were held at the Askvig home at 1:30 p.m. and at Samuel Lutheran Church, Eagle Grove, Iowa at 2:00 p.m. Pastor H. C. Bakken officiated. Interment was made at the Holmes Cemetery, at Holmes, Iowa.

Those who came from a distance were: Mrs. Rose Askvig and daughter Verabel of Clarion, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Askvig of Boone, Ia., Mrs. Clifford Robb of Webster City, Ia., Mrs. John Wall of Sycamore, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Tysdal and daughter of Galt, la., Mrs. Selmer Tysdal of Dows, la., and Tom Egland of Emmetsburg, Ia.
