Winneshiek County's Oldest Resident Dies at Age 101

Anna Lysne, aged 101, Winneshiek County's oldest resident, died at her home at 708 River St, in Decorah, June 7.

Funeral services were held today, Monday, 10 at First Lutheran Church with the Rev. John Ness and the Rev. George Ulvilden conducting the services. Burial was in the Lutheran Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Robert Lysne, Ronald Lysne, Raymond Richard, Carleton Anderson, Nathan Groff, and Clarence Phillips.

Patricia Hein was the organist, and the Rev. Glenn Kapplemann was the soloist. Steine Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Born In Norway

Mrs. Lysne was born Anna Anderson Nov. 27, 1866 in Lerdal, Norway, the daughter of Andrew and Anna Anderson. She received part of her education in Norway, and after coming to the United States, in the rural schools near DeSoto, Wis.

She was married July 18, 1895 to Nels Lysne in the Glenwood Lutheran Church. Her husband died in 1947.

She is survived by one daughter Mrs. Emma Richard, and three sons, Alfred, Nelius and Elmer, all of Decorah.

Other Survivors

Other survivors include three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Lysne was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and six brothers.

Mrs. Lysne came to DeSoto, Wis at the age of 11, and she and her husband farmed in Glenwood township until retirement in 1942.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church.
