Asa W. Adams, a former resident and pioneer Decorah photographer, passed away at his home in Waterloo last Thursday. The deceased was the father of Mrs. G.F. Baker, of this city, and enjoyed a wide acquaintance here, and news of his death brings sorrow to many old friends. The remains were taken to Decorah Saturday for burial, and services were held Sunday afternoon, Rev. M. Willett of the Congregational church officiating. Interment was in Phelps cemetery.

We take the following particulars from the 'Waterloo Courier':
Asa W. Adams, for many years a well-known photographer of this city and more recently a merchant policeman, died at 1:35 o'clock Thursday morning at his home, 133 Logan avenue. Death was due to paralysis and followed a two years' illness. For a week prior to his death he had been in a critical condition and death was not unexpected. His passing removes a most devoted husband and father; whose presence will be sadly missed by the widow and children.

Mr. Adams was born Feb. 26, 1842, at Sheffield Lake, O., and came to Iowa when quite young. He learned the photograph business at the age of 21 years at McGregor, Ia., afterward moving to Decorah, where he was engaged in the photograph business very successfully for twenty-one years. He then moved, with his family, to Waterloo, where he opened a studio on on Fourth street east and continued in business until he health failed, about fifteen years ago.

For many years after disposing of his business he continued to do special photographic work which did not tax his strength to such an extent as had the studio work. Until his last illness he was employed as merchant policeman and was well known among people in the business district. He was a member of the A.O.U.W. lodge.

On Nov. 28, 1866, Mr. Adams was married to Miss Emma J. Fuller, who survives. To this union were born four children: Mrs. G.F. Baker of Decorah, Miss Jennie and Cranston Adams, at home, and another son, William, deceased.

The funeral services will be conducted from the late residence Saturday morning at 10 o'clock by the Rev. J.F. Moore, pastor of Plymouth Congregational church.
