THE SILENT REAPER.
MRS. O. T. VICK.
After an illness of several weeks which terminated in pneumonia Mrs. O. T. Vick died at eleven o’clock last Sunday morning at her home on Mechanic street, aged seventy-two years, one month and fifteen days. Mrs. Vick’s maiden name was Jorand Fristad. She was born December 9, 1836, in Valders, Norway, the daughter of E. H. and Ragnild Fristad. With her parents she came to America in 1851 and settled in Springfield township, this county. Three years alter she was married to O. T. Vick and for forty-five years they made their home on a farm in Decorah township four miles south of town. On August 29, 1899, Mr. Vick passed away, and early in 1900 Mrs. Vick moved to Decorah where she has since made her home. Of six children born to them five survive. They are Tollef, who is on the old homestead, Rev. E. O. Vick of La Crosse, K. O. Vick of Minneapolis, Thora and Olaf Vick who have joined with their mother in making their home in Decorah. One daughter died several years ago. Mrs. Vick is also survived by her brother, H. E. Fristad of Calmar and sister, Mrs. Gilbert Vick of Madison township. The deceased was an active member of the Synod Lutheran church and also a member of the Ladies’ Aid society. She has been a devoted mother, a faithful wife and helpmeet. The funeral was held yesterday afternoon at 2 p. m. at the home, Dr. Laur. Larsen speaking in Norwegian and Rev. I. B. Torrison in English. Interment was made in the P. E. Haugen cemetery.
