THE SILENT REAPER.
JAMES M. McNAIR.
James M. McNair, an old and highly respected citizen of Frankville township, passed away last Saturday after a brief illness following an attack of the grip. The funeral was held Monday, Rev. Young of Waukon officiating, and interment was made in the Frankville cemetery.
James Moody McNair was born January 25, 1839, in Erie, Pa. When ten years of age he accompanied his parents to Wisconsin where he grew to manhood. In 1861 he enlisted in the 8th Wisconsin Infantry and served out a full enlistment in the Union army. He moved to Iowa in 1867 and settled in Frankville township where he continued to make his home up to the time of his death. He was married in 1869 to Emily A. Pagin. To this union three children were born,--Herbert B., who died a few weeks ago, Lewis C., who died in infancy, and Mrs. Chris. Walters of Ossian, who, with her mother, survive to cherish the memory of a loving and faithful father and husband. Mr. McNair was also survived by one sister, Mrs. A. J. Hart of Minneapolis, and two grandchildren. Through his long residence in Frankville he sustained a reputation for upright living and kindness to friend and neighbor. Early in life he joined the Methodist church and was a consistent follower of that faith to the close of his life.
