THE SILENT REAPER.
CHRISTIAN SAAKLE.
On Friday last at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Fred Felsterman, occurred the death of Christian Saakle, aged ninety years. He had been seated in a chair talking to his daughter when suddenly he ceased to speak, his head dropped, and he had passed away. Mr. Saakle was a native of Austerode, Germany, where he was born June 27, 1823. In 1847 he came to Canada where he resided until 1902. From that time until 1905 he made his home with his son John in Los Angeles, then coming to Decorah where he has since resided. He was married in 1848 at Mitchell, Canada, and is survived by the following children: Mrs. Felsterman, Mrs. W. Hawkins of Chicago, Henry and Mrs. Machan of Manitoba, Canada, John of Los Angeles, Christian of Sebringsville, Canada, George of Attica, N. Y, and Andrew, whose residence could not be learned. His wife died thirty-four years ago. The funeral was held Monday last with interment in Phelps cemetery, Rev I. B. Torrison officiating.
