THE SILENT REAPER.
MARIT HAUGEN
On Sunday last, the 3rd inst. at the home of her son O. G. Haugen in Springfield township, where she has resided for many years, Mrs. Marit Haugen passed away, aged 90 years, 0 months and 24 days. Mrs. Haugen was a native of Norway where she was married to Germund O. Haugen before coming to America. They settled in Springfield township in 1855, joining that band of pioneers who began coming from Norway as early as the fall of 1849 and spring of 1850. Mr. Haugen died in 1866. Of their six children but two survive—Ole G. Haugen and Mrs. P. N. Remmen of Ashcroft, S. D. The funeral was held yesterday afternoon, prayer at the home at one o’clock, followed by service at the Washington Prairie church at two o’clock. Rev. Paul Koren officiated.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows she was born Aug. 9, 1822 which does not agree with the above age. She is buried in the Washington Prairie Lutheran Cemetery. It also shows her husband’s name was spelled Gjermund D.
