AT REST.
MRS. JOHN C. PEARSON
Death claimed Mrs. John C. Pearson on Sunday evening last after a short illness due to paralysis. For some time past Mrs. Pearson has been in failing health but was able to be about her home most of the time until only three or four days previous to her death.
Annie Brindley Hall was born in Northwood, Staffordshire England on February 22, 1834. There she grew to womanhood receiving a splendid education. On December 2{?}, 1860, she was married at Stoke-upon-Trent, England, to John Cumberlege Pearson. They continued to reside in England until September, 1870, when they came to America, and directly to Decorah. Here they made their home, with the exception of about three years spent in Colorado, where Mr. Pearson was engaged in mining. Eight children were born to them. Two died in England and one in this country, the surviving ones being Mrs. Chris. Enger of Erdahl, Minn., Wm. P. Pearson of Canon City, Colo., John G. and Gilbert T. Pearson and Mrs. F. B. Thomas, all of Decorah. Mr. Pearson died nineteen years ago, and it was a coincidence that Mrs. Pearson’s death came on the same date in the month.
One of the great pleasures of Mrs. Pearson’s life was her friends, of whom she had many. She possessed a particular aptitude for business and handled all her affairs personally by preference. In the daily affairs of her home and the world in general she was well informed and it was a pleasure for all who knew her to meet her. And withal she was a woman of kind heart, loyal to friends, devoted to her family.
The funeral was held yesterday afternoon at the Episcopal church, Rev. Wn. McVettie officiating, and the remains were placed in the fault at Phelps cemetery. All of her children were present.Transcriber’s Note: Her gravestone in Phelps Cemetery shows her name spelled Anne.
