We are called to report the death of another of our old and highly respected citizens in the passing away of Mrs. Jas. McKay{sic}. Catherine Cutler was born at White Pigeon, Mich., Sept. 28, 1828, and was called home Jan 17, 1912, having attained the age of 83 years, 3 months and 10 days. In 1847 she was married to Dr. John Moffat Todd at Waukesha, Wis., In 1854 they came to Frankville, Iowa, where not long afterwards her husband and two children died. In 1856 she was re-married to James D. McKay and to this union four children were born, three of whom survive her,--Donald of Waukesha, Wis., Mrs. Cora Chamberlin and Alexander D. of Frankville. In early life she joined the Presbyterian church on confession of faith and has truly lived up to her belief as all who knew her well can testify. She was a devoted mother, generous friend, helpful neighbor, and a consistent Christian. We part with her in the sure conviction of a happy reunion in the Father’s home above. The funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church Sunday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Ziegler. Burial was made in the village cemetery. The sympathy of the community is extended to the bereaved ones.
Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows her name spelled Mackay and that she is buried in the Frankville Cemetery.
