Sarah Baldwin was born in Canada July 26, 1845, and departed this life at Frankville, Iowa, Jan. 6, 1923, after an illness of only nine days, the cause of her death being septicemia. Miss Baldwin came with her parents to Winneshiek county, Iowa, in the spring of 1852 and had been a resident of the county almost continuously until her death. She had been a devoted member of the Methodist church since early girlhood. For a number of years she was a teacher in the public schools of the county but failing health compelled her to abandon the work. She leaves four brothers and one sister,--D. W. Baldwin, with whom she made her home, George N. of Marble Rock, Thomas and W. H. of Beaumont, Texas, and Mrs. J. W. Whitson of Saint Thomas, N. D. The funeral services were held Wednesday at 12 o’clock at the home, conducted by Rev. Tipton, M. E. minister of Castalia assisted by Rev. Ziegler of this place. Interment was made in the Centennial cemetery. The bereaved ones have the sympathy of the community in their affliction.
