Death Brings Relief from Long Illness.
On Saturday morning last after a long illness from tuberculosis, Miss Karen Hoffoss, fourth daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ole Hoffoss, passed away at the family home on Mechanic street. Miss Hoffoss’ il{l}ness covered a period of several years during which she made a brave, cheerful fight, and even during the last few months when there was no hope of her recovery she accepted her affliction uncomplainingly, and awaited patiently the end.
Miss Hoffoss was born Aug. 14, 1876, in Decorah, and has always resided here. Her twin brother Olaf died about six years ago, also from tuberculosis. Besides her parents she is survived by three sisters, Mrs. O. W. Holm, Mrs. C. A. Sparati and Miss Ida Hoffoss.
The funeral was held Tuesday after noon. Prayer at the home at 1:30 o’clock preceded the service which was held at the United Lutheran church at two o’clock, Rev. O. E. Schmidt officiating, and the remains were interred in the Norwegian cemetery.
In their bereavement the family have the sympathy of many friends.Transcriber’s Note: Her gravestone in Lutheran Decorah Cemetery shows her name as Carrie. Find a Grave shows she died Jan. 6, 1912.
