I checked the listings for the Clerk of Court probate records and there is no probate record listed for Jarret Garner. There is one, however, listed for Susannah Garner. Should write to the Clerk of the District Court, 101 W. 4th Street, Ottumwa, Iowa 52501 and request a copy. The estate was entered into probate on 24 Sep 1867 and is located in Box 9, Book A, page 238. The executor is listed as J.T. Haclworth (I think it is really J.T. Hackworth).

There are no microfilms of newspapers that far back, so, I could find no listing for obituaries.
