In Response To: Tom N. Harper (Marilyn Thomas)

I have posted the obituaries of Thomas Harper, Mary Ellen Thomas Harper and Sarah Harper Wise to the Wapello County Genealogical web site.

In additon to the information previously provided and the information contained in the obits, I would add the following. Most is from the records at the funeral home.

Thomas J. Harper was born on 9 Sep 1857 in Harrison County, Missouri. He died on 9 May 1933 in Ottumwa, Wapello county, Iowa. He was buried on 11 May 1933. In the funeral home records his father is listed as Richard M. Harper, a native of Tennessee. His mother is not listed.

Mary Ellen Thomas was born on 3 Sep 1870 in Harrison county, Missouri. She died on 14 Feb 1938 in Council Bluffs, Pottawatamie county, Iowa. She was buried beside Thomas on 17 Feb 1938. The funeral home lists her father as Alfred Thomas and her mother as Elizabeth Ann Thomas.

It is possible that the birth places are wrong, since there is indication that they may have actually been born in Harrison township, Mercer county, Missouri.

Sarah Harper was born on 11 Oct 1895 in Agency township, Wapello county, Iowa and died on 20 Aug 1934 in Ottumwa. She married Niles Edward Wise in abt 1912 (I can't find a marriage record for her). She is buried in the same plot as her parents.

Niles Edward Wise was born on 15 Sep 1891 in Wapello county, Iowa, the son of Edward B. Wise and Matilda Rutter. He died on 23 Sep 1979 in Ottumwa. On 14 Aug 1935 he married Annetta Denlinger (born 13 May 1906; died 23 Apr 1987). Niles and Annetta are buried in the Ottumwa cemetery. I took a quick look at the obituary for Niles Wise and there were no children listed.
