In Response To: BENJAMIN FIELD (Mary Ellen)

I checked and there is no record of Benjamin's burial in Monroe County. I have also checked cemeteries in Mahaska and Wapello counties...those counties that border on Monroe to the east. If he did not die at the home of one of his children who did not live in Monroe county, I think it possible that he did die in Monroe county, he was buried in Hayden Cemetery, and that the tombstone was not updated to reflect his burial.

When I get the chance, I will check the Monroe county death records to see if he is listed. It appears that he lived in Pleasant township for more than 30 years. According to the 1856 Iowa census, he came to Iowa very early since he had aready lived here 8 years as of 1856.
