Myrtle Shirkey, 86, of 1000 S. Fifth St., died at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, 1989, at Jefferson County Hospital.
The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Gates officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation is from 7-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to the Fairfield Public Library or to the Christmas Lighting Fund.
Mrs. Shirkey was born Sept. 18, 1903, northeast of Ollie, to Wilbur and Catherine Smithart Teller. She had lived in Jefferson, Henry and Keokuk counties, and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Methodist Church. She married Clarence Shirkey March 12, 1925, in Sigourney.
Survivors include a son Darrol of Milton, a daughter Peggy Elder of Fairfield, 10 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and two brothers, Wilford Teller of Fairfield and Ivan Teller of Collins. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, a grandson and a sister.
