John Franklin Pitzer

John Franklin Pitzer, son of Paul E. and Laura Franklin Pitzer was born August 16, 1916, near Lawn Ridge, Mo. and died Saturday, Aug. 5, 1989, at the University of Missouri Hospital, in Columbia, Mo., at the age of 72.

He lived and farmed in the Lawn Ridge neighborhood until entering the service in 1941. After being discharge from the army in 1945 he resumed farming in the Upton area south of Cantril, Iowa, until his death.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother.

Surviving are two sisters: Lucille Pennock, of Worland, Wyo., and Mary Sturdevant, of Big Spring, Texas, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and one aunt, Iva Pitzer, of Sacramento, Calif.

The family has suggested memorials to the Scotland County Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 8, 1989 at 1:30 p.m. at the Payne-Gerth Chapel, Memphis, Mo. with the Rev. Jim Campbel, officiating. Military graveside rites by Wallace W. Gillespie, VFW Post No. 4958, Memphis, Mo. Burial was in Cantril Cemetery, Cantril, Iowa.
