Rex L. Robertson

Rex L. Robertson, 62, Cantril Postmaster, died at 10:26 P.M., Monday, June 5, 1989 at University Hospital, Iowa City.

He was born November 1, 1926 near Douds, son of Wallace m. and Maude Locke Robertson. He grew up in the Douds and Lebanon communities.

He graduated from Cantril High School in 1944, farmed near Cantril and operated a hardware, plumbing and heating business in Cantril for a number of years. He had been Cantril Postmaster for 20 years.

He was a member of Cantril Christian Church, a Past President and former longtime Secretary of Cantril Lions Club and a former Lions Zone Chairman.

He married Marilyn Anderson, October 24 at Keosauqua.

Surviving are his wife, two sons Terry and wife Mina, Griggsville, Ill., Lyle and wife Connie, Drakesville, four grandchildren, Tony, Lance, Clint and Alicia Robertson, his father and step-mother, Wallace and Veneta Robertson of Keosauqua, two brothers, Dale of Garland, Texas and Larry of Lewisville, Texas. His mother preceded him in death in 1950.

Services will be held Thursday, June 8, 1989 at 2 p.m. in the Cantril Christian Church, Rev. Gerald Caughron officiating. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Cantril.

Memorials to the Cantril Christian Church or Iowa Lions Eye Bank may be left at the funeral home.

Pedrick Funeral Home of Keosauqua was in charge of arrangements.
