Wiley Alexander

Wiley Alexander, son of Emery and Gertie Cavitt Alexander, was born April 5, 1901 near Cantril and died the morning of Thursday, March 23, 1989 at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center, Keosauqua, at the age of 87.

He spent his life farming in Van Buren County except for six years when he farmed near Galesburg, Ill.

Wiley married Juanita Sebree August 30, 1933 at Oneida, Ill. They retired to Keosauqua in 1981.

Surviving are his wife, a son, David and his wife Marilyn of Milton, two granddaughters, Pamela Alexander, Raleigh, N.C. and Tracy Baggett, Marietta, Pa., and two great grandchildren, Alan and Amanda Barker. Also surviving are two brothers, Roy of Jefferson, Iowa and Neal of Alpha, Ill., two sisters, Letha Scott and Grace Brewer, both of Fort Madison, other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were four brothers, Arthur, Leonard, Stanley and Gene and two sisters, Edna Thomas and Mae Phillips.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 25, 1989 at 2 p.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, with Rev. Bob Patterson officiating. Interment was in Maple Grove Cemetery, Cantril. A memorial was established for Maple Grove Cemetery, or memorials may be made to charity of donor's choice.
