Mabel V. Blakely

Mabel V. Blakely, 81, Fairfield, died at 4:50 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, 1989, at Parkview Care Center.

The service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Buford Robinson officiating. The casket will be cremated and burial will be at a later date in Cantril Cemetery at Cantril. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials have been established to the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society.

Mrs. Blakely was born May 7, 1908, in Woodbury County near Sioux City, the daughter of Arthur and Madora Ballier Honeywell. She married John E. Blakely April 27, 1961, in Iowa City. He died May 3, 1976. A homemaker, she had lived in the Fairfield community since 1960 and before that in Cantril. She had been a member of Cantril Baptist Church and had been a member of American Legion Auxiliary since 1968.

Surviving are two nieces, a nephew, four grandchildren and two great grandsons. She was preceded in death by her daughter Oma Starkey, a brother Lawrence, and two sisters, Ethel and Clarinda.
