Sofie C. Kunzman

Sofie C. Kunzman, daughter of Christian and Barbara Nurk Klein, was born November 7, 1899 in Dettengten Tech, Wurtenburg, Germany and died Sunday evening, September 10, 1989 at Bloomfield Care Center, Bloomfield, Iowa at the age of 89.

She came to the United States in 1025 and married George O. Kunzman May 15, 1926. He died in 1979. Mr. and Mrs. Kunzman farmed southwest of Douds. Mrs. Kunzman had resided in Agency for 13 years and at the care center the past 15 months.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Ottumwa.

Surviving are a son, Willliam, of Bloomfield; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 11, 1989 at Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds with Reverend Robert Lehmann officiating. Interment was in Leando Cemetery. A memorial was established for the Douds Community Building.
