Viola Mae Kloewer

Viola Mae Kloewer, 70, passed away Monday, August 21, 1989, after a month in the Cardiac Intensive Care unit at University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.

She was born January 29, 1919, in a sod house in Goshen County, Wyoming. Viola was one of three children of Lennie and Jessie Madden Parish. While a child she moved with her family to Clark County, Missouri and then to the Mr. Sterling community.

Viola graduated from Keosauqua High School in 1937 and attended State Teachers College, Cedar Falls. She taught for several years in North Upton School. She married Herman Kloewer, September 8, 1941.

Other survivors include a son, James and his wife, Sally, their children Adam and Eric Miller and Toby Kloewer of Keosauqua; two daughters Sheila and her husband Fred Parsons, their children Brad, Julie, Stephen, Joanna and Joshua of Keosauqua; Susan and her husband Dr. Gary Lee and children Philip and Jennifer of Fulton, Missouri. She also leaves a brother Clell Parish of Farmington and a sister Thereisa Davis of Wickenburg, Arizona, also several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Viola was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Farmington and the American Legion Aux., Post No. 113, Keosauqua.

She enjoyed her family and friends and her years of work in the local flower shops, cooking, sewing, gardening and fishing.

Visitation and Christian Wake Service were held Wednesday, August 23, at Pedrick Funeral Hoem, in Keosauqua. A closed casket funeral mass was held Thursday, August 24, at St. Boniface Church, Farmington, with interment at Fellows Cemetery, Keosauqua. Rev. Paul Connolly officiating.
