Paul R. Bollinger

Paul R. Bollinger, son of Fred and Maude Fritzler Bollinger, was born January 7, 1900 near Douds, and died the afternoon of Thursday, March 16, 1989 at University Hospital, Iowa City, at the age of 89. Paul graduated from Delta High School and Iowa State University at Ames, taught in Plymouth, Hedrick, and What Cheer High Schools, and was a veteran of World War I. He was employed 36 years by the United States Department of Agriculture, retiring in 1970 as a farm planner with the Van Buren County Soil Conservation District Office.

He was an active member of the Keosauqua Christian Church which he served as Deacon and Elder. He was a member of Beer-Barker Post No. 113, American Legion, Keosauqua and was a trustee of Fellows Cemetery.

Paul married Alleen L. Hedges December 23, 1931 at Hedrick.

Surviving are his wife, their son, John and his wife, Roxie of Springfield, Mo., three sisters, Alma Hollingsworth, Stronghurst, Ill., Kathleen Denny, Delta, and Ruth West, Pomona, Calif., other relatives and friends. A sister, Thelma Shepherd preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held Sunday, March 19, 1989 at 2 P.M. at the Keosauqua Christian Church with Rev. Bob Patterson officiating. Interment was in Fellows Cemetery, Keosauqua. A memorial was established for his church. Arrangements were in charge of Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua.
