G. Dwight DeHart

G. Dwight DeHart, son of Hector and Iona Wolford DeHart, was born March 24, 1902 near Keosauqua and died the morning of Tuesday, January 24, 1989 at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center, Keosauqua, at the age of 86.

He graduated from Keosauqua High School, attended Iowa State College in Ames, and spent his active life farming in the Center Chapel community southeast of Keosauqua. He was a member of Center Chapel United Methodist Church and had served his church in numerous capacities, had been a director of Farmers State Bank, president of Van Buren County Farm Bureau, a director of Van Buren Mutual Insurance Association, and had been a Future Farmers of America leader.

He married Pearl Peacock June 20, 1924 at her parents home south of Douds.

Surviving are his wife, three sons, Blaine and his wife, Beverly, Joe and his wife, Shirley, and Larry and his wife, Carolyn, all of Keosauqua, a daughter, Minona Mueller and her husband William, of Garden Grove, Calif. 17 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, two half-brothers, Dan DeHart, Albuquerque, New Mexico and Del DeHart, St. George, Utah, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Thursday, January 26, 1989 at 11 a.m. in Center Chapel United Methodist Church, with Rev. Don Morrison officiating. Interment was in Center Chapel Cemetery. A memorial was established for his church. Arrangements were in charge of Pedrick Funeral Home.
