Lester R. Matheson

Lester R. Matheson, son of Hugh and Sarah Rankin Matheson, was born October 6, 1918 in the Center Chapel community southeast of Keosauqua and died Sunday morning, November 12, 1989 at his farm home in the same neighborhood where he lived his entire life.

Lester married Orpha Burchett December 31, 1943 at Memphis, Missouri. He graduated from Keosauqua High School, was a farmer, operated a livestock truck and worked at area sale barns. He was a member of Center Chapel United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Betty Sterling of Newton and Linda Wilson of Cedar Rapids, and three grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 15, 1989 at Center Chapel United Methodist Church with Reverend Chrisa Ferguson officiating. Interment was in Center Chapel Cemetery.

A memorial was established for Center Chapel Church.

Pedrick Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
