Jennie V. Perkins

Jennie V. Perkins, daughter of William and Mary Wolf Blackburn, was born October 15, 1892 in the Center Chapel community south of Keosauqua and departed this life the afternoon of Tuesday, January 3, 1989, at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital, Keosauqua, at the age of 96.

Mrs. Perkins lived her live(err) in the Center Chapel community until retiring to Keosauqua. She and her husband entered the Van (BUren) (Cood) Samaritan Center in Keosauqua in 1979.

She was a life-long member of the Center Chapel United Methodist Church.

She married Austin E. Perkins December 4, 1911 in Ottumwa. Mr. Perkins died in 1984. A sister, Nellie Strong also preceeded(?) her in death.

Remaining to cherish her memory are a son, Verdon and his wife, Wilma of Cantril and two daughters, Dolores Lee and her husband, Orville and Betty Mitchell and her husband, Jack, all of Keosauqua. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren other relatives and friends.

She will be remembered as a devoted mother and grandmother, a good neighbor and friend.

Funeral services were held Thursday, January 5, 1989 at 10:30 A.M. at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, with Rev. Don Morrison officiating.

Interment was in Center Chapel Cemetery.

A memorial was established for the cemetery.
