G. Eddie Merrick, 77, of Kahoka, died at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 25, in Blessing Hospital, Quincy.

He was born on July 29, 1911, in Granger, Mo., the son of George and Alice Hunter Merrick. He married Veneta I. Nichols on Dec. 20, 1940, in Kahoka. He was a member of the Asbury Methodist Church and had lived and farmed in the Asbury Community until moving to Luray, Mo. in 1967, and later to Kahoka in April of 1988. He was a member of the Mt. Sterling, Iowa, and Luray, Mo. Saddle Clubs.

Survivors include his wife; a sister Anna Lee Smith of Rogers, Ark., uncles, aunts and a hos of friends.

He was preceded in death by his brother and four sisters.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Shaffer and Son Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Beryl Cragg officiating.

Burial will be in the Harness Cemetery, Mt. Sterling, Iowa.

Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Thursday at Shaffer and Sons and the family will meet with friends from 7-8 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the Clark County Nursing Home or the Clark County Ambulance Service.
