JAMES E. CRAVENS

James E. Cravens, son of William and Cora Isabel Craves, was born January 18, 1917 at Bernie, Mo. and died the morning of Sunday, Dec. 24, 1989 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center, Ottumwa, Iowa at the age of 72.

He grew up in Missouri, lived in Douds and Selma, and the past 13 years in Ottumwa. Jim served in the United States Army in Europe during World War II and took part in the invasion of Normandy on D-Dav. 1944. He was a retire employee of the Dexter Company in Fairfield.

Surviving are three sons, James Cravens and Ronnie Cravens, both of Ottumwa and Robert Kendall, Westminister, Colorado, a daughter, Wanda Rysdam, Sikeston, Mo., 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Emma Warmeth and Jean Hutchison, both of St. Louis, Mo., other relatives and friends. A sister, Glenda Maniskers and three brothers, Paul, Otis and Archibald Cravens preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 26, 1989 at 2 P.M. at Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds, with Richard Ellis, Minister, officiating. Interment was in Iowaville Cemetery near Selma with military rites by Walter B. Schafer Post 775, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Ottumwa.
