Dean Schellhouse

Dean F. Schellhouse, 78, Fairfield, died 2:10 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 14, 1989, at Jefferson County Hospital.

He was born Aug. 17, 1911, in Van Buren County, the son of Earl and Margaret Baker Schellhouse. He married Etta Oweta Chenowith.

He was a member of the Midwest Old Threshers Association since 1952 and was honored inn 1987 when his was chosen Engine of the Year.

Surviving are his wife, Fairfield; two daughters; and two grandsons.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 18 at Raymond Funeral Home, Fairfield. Burial will be in Iowa Cemetery, near Selma.

The family will receive friends 3-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home where memorials to the Multiple Sclerosis or Old Threshers foundations have been established.

Dean Schellhous rite pending

Dean F. Schellhous, 78, 1006 S. Main St., died at 2:10 a.m. today, Sept. `4, 1989 at Jefferson County Hospital.

Arrangements are pending at Raymond Funeral Home. Memorials to Multiple Sclerosis or the Old Threshers Foundation may be left at the funeral home.

Schellhous was born Aug. 7, 1911, in Van Buren County, the son of Earl and Margaret Baker Schellhous. He was reared and educated in Selma and graduated from Selma High School. He worked for the Van Buren County road crew, lived in Davenport; Circleville, Ohio; Livonia, Mich.; and had been a resident of Fairfield since 1978. He was superintendent of shops for the Holloway Construction Company at Wixom, Mich., for more than 28 years.

He served in the Army Air Corps in England and Germany during World War II. He was a member of Local 324 Operating Engineers, VFW Post 2271, and since 1952, the Old Threshers Association. He was honored in 1987 when his engine was named Engine of the Year. He married Etta Oweta Chenoweth Feb. 20, 1949, at Davenport. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Virginia Taylor of Parma, Ohio, Gwendolyn Smith of Columbus, Mo.; two grandsons and several cousins.
