DONNELLSON - Hazel D. Varner, 94, formerly of the Farmington-Donnellson area, died at 7 a.m. Monday, March 7, at the Scotland County Nursing Home, Memphis, Mo.

Mrs. Varner was born Feb. 18, 1894, at Keokuk. She lived in the Farmington-Donnellson area until 1972 when she moved to Farmington. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Farmington.

On April 8, 1910, at Peoria, Ill., she was married to Virgil Varner, who preceded her in death.

Surviving are two sons, Lawrence Varner, Memphis, and Hubert Varner, Keokuk; a daughter, Ruth Strohmaier, Keokuk; 13 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by daughter, four brothers and a sister. Her parents were Harry and Anna Fox Inman.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Farmington. The Rev. Ronald Haas will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Keokuk.

The body is at the Hofbauer Funeral Home in Donnellson were friends may call after 1 p.m. Wednesday and where the family will meet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Hazel D. Varner

Hazel D. Varner, 94, of Memphis, Mo., died Monday, March 7, 1988, at the Scotland County, Mo., Nursing Home.

Born Feb. 18, 1894, in Keokuk, she was the daughter of Harry and Anna Fox Inman. She married Virgil Varner April 8, 1910, in Peoria, Ill. He died in 1972.

She spent her childhood in Keokuk and had lived for 30 years in the Farmington and Donnellson areas before moving to the Scotland County, Mo., Nursing Home. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Farmington.

Surviving are two sons, Lawrence Varner, Memphis, Mo., and Hubert Varner, Keokuk; one daughter, Ruth Strohmaier, Keokuk; 13 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 1 p.m. Wednesday with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Hofbauer Funeral Home, Donnellson.

The service for Mrs. Varner will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church, Farmington, with the Rev. Ronald Haas officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Keokuk.
