Eva A. Parsons

Eva A. Parsons, daughter of Elmer and Mary Haney Hanshaw, was born January 26, 1887 in Davis County and departed this life early the morning of Thursday, January 7, 1988 at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua where she had resided since 1976.

She married Jamie W. Parsons April 7, 1904. He died in 1968. A son, Donald Parsons and a brother, Emmett Hanshaw also preceded her in death.

Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Freda Parsons of Douds, three grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.

Most of Eva's life was lived in the Bethel neighborhood south-west of Douds where she and her husband farmed. She was a long-time active member of the Bethel Free Methodist Church which she served many years as pianist, and for a number of years was a news correspondent for the Van Buren County Register.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 9, 1988 at 10 a.m. in the Bethel Free Methodist Church with Pastor Donald Parsons and Pastor Phil Campbell officiating. Interment was in Zion Lutheran Cemetery near Douds.

Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds, was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be left at the funeral home.
