Roy Hill

Roy L. Hill, 63, of Quincy, Illinois died 8:25 a.m. Friday, January 1, 1988 at his home.

Born March 6, 1924 at Bentonsport, he was the son of Harry and Lila Stevens Hill. He married Bernice Willits Moline, December 28, 1952 in Nashua.

A World War II Army veteran, he was a member of the Royal Arch Masons, Bonaparte; Mount Moriah Lodge, Farmington; Quincy Consistory, Farmington; American Legion Post Member 231, Melrose; and the Melrose Chapel United Methodist Church, Quincy, where he served on the administrative board.

He operated two Phillips 66 filling stations in Bonaparte and Farmington until 1952. He then worked for the Ordnance Plant in Middletown until 1964 when he moved to Quincy and began working for the safety department of Mormon Manufacturing Co. He worked there for 20 years and retired in April, 1985.

Surviving are his wife; two step-sons, Bernard Moline, Quincy, and Larry D. Moline, Fort Collins, Colorado; one sister, Mrs. Grace (Cyril) Van Patten, Redwood Valley, California; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The service for Mr. Hill was held Monday, January 4, 1988 at the Zehender Robinson, Stormer, Cookson Funeral Home, Quincy with the Reverend Robert Folk officiating. A graveside service followed at the Green Glade Cemetery, Farmington.

A memorial has been established for the Melrose Chapel or the Blessing Hospice Program.
