Joseph Phillip Workman

Graveside services for Joseph Phillip Workman, 84, 2702 Ave. J, were at 10 a.m. today in Oakland Cemetery. Dr. Raymond Boulter officiated. The Barr Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Workman died unexpectedly at 2:40 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, at Fort Madison Community Hospital.

He was born Jan. 20, 1903, at Keosauqua He had lived in Fort Madison since 1941 and retired in 1963 from the Du Pont Co. with 15 years of service. He was a member of the Santa Fe United Methodist Church, Stella Lodge No. 440 A.F. & A.M. and the Fort Madison Senior Citizens.

On March 29, 1922, at Keosauqua, he married Sara Belle Else, who died March 29, 1984.

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Ada Wehrwein, La Belle, Fla., Mrs. A.O. (Josephine) Jedlicka, Fort Madison, Mrs. Harold (Cathrine) Mehl, Overland Park, Kan., and Mrs. L.E. (Jean) Huff, Farmington; six grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, three step grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, several nephews and nieces.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, a sister and a grandchild. His parents were Lawrence Ellsworth and Anna Belle Brill Workman.

A memorial has been established with the Arthritis Foundation. Contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel.
