Ruby L. Sebree

Ruby L. Sebree, daughter of Jesse B. and Addie Johnston Livesay was born June 9, 1887 in Warren County, Ill. and died the morning of Monday, Feb. 22, 1988 at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center, Keosauqua at the age of 100.

She married Wallace C. Sebree Sept. 1, 1910 at Prairie City, Ill. They farmed near Avon, Ill. and later moved to Saint Augustine, Ill. where they operated a cafe and grocery store, Mr. Sebree died in 1947. A four year granddaughter, Lois, three sisters and a brother also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Sebree united with the Olive Christian Church near Avon in 1909 and transferred her membership to the Keosauqua Christian Church in the spring of 1952, having moved to Keosauqua in 1951 from Saint Augustine, In Keosauqua she was employed at the Goodie Garden Cafe and Vernon's Variety Store.

Surviving are a daughter, Juanita Alexander and her husband, Wiley, of Keosauqua, a son, Clifton Sebree and his wife, Edna, of Abingdon, Ill., five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, a brother, Jay Livesay of Le Mesa, Calif., other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 25, 1988 at 10 a.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, with Rev. Bob Patterson officiating. Memorials may be made to her church or the Van Buren Good Samaritan Center. Interment was in Babbitt Cemetery near St. Augustine, Ill.
