Jim D. Miller

Jim D. Miller, 49, rural Hillsboro, died of an apparent heart attack at 1:30 a.m. Monday, December 28, 1987 at his home.

Mr. Miller was born June 1, 1938 at Hillsboro and was a lifelong resident of the community. He was a farmer and also worked at the Christamore Boys Home at Mount Pleasant. He was a member of Belmont Masonic Lodge No. 541 of Hillsboro and the Hillsboro American Legion. He served in the Army Reserve for 20 years. He was a member of the former Big Mound Methodist Church.

He was first married Carol Sprott. He later married Mary Ann Smith.

Surviving are his parents, Kenneth and Viola Hawk Miller, Hillsboro; two sons, Scott Miller, Perry, Iowa and Michael Miller, Des Moines; two daughters, Mrs. Michael (Lorie) McMillen, Salem and Mrs. Ed (Patricia) Kruse, Hillsboro; and 11 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Funeral services were held December 31, 1987 at the Farmington United Methodist Church. The Reverend James Rozendaal officiated. Burial was in the Hillsboro Cemetery. Hofbauer Funeral Home, Farmington, was in charge of arrangements.

A memorial is being established with the Christmore Boys Home. Contributions may be made at the Hofbauer Funeral Home.
