Willard H. Douglas

Willard H. Douglas, 76, of 712 S. White St., Mount Pleasant, died 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, 1987, at the Henry County Health Center, Mount Pleasant.

Born April 17, 1911, near Hillsboro in Van Buren County, he was the son of John W. and Bertha K. Hinchman Douglas. He married Ruth M. Kerker April 17, 1942, in Mount Pleasant.

He had been employed by the Iowa Department of Transportation State Highway Commission, retiring after 35 years of service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Mount Pleasant, the Moose was a member of the First Baptist Church, Mount Pleasant, the Moose Lodge and was a life member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity.

Surviving are his wife; one son, John E. "Jack" Douglas, stationed with the U.S. Navy in Europe; and two daughters, Mrs. Sherrie (Luther) Pfeiffer, Mount Pleasant, and Mrs. Kathryn (Roy) Wiseman, Early; and 10 grandchildren.

Visitation will be after noon Thursday with a wake service at 7 p.m. and the family receiving friends after the wake service at the Weir Funeral Home, Mount Pleasant.

The service for Mr. Douglas will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Weir Funeral Home, Mount Pleasant with the Rev. Thomas Spiegel officiating. Burial will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the physical therapy department at the Henry County Health Center.
