Harold Christner

Harold L. Christner, 59, Rout3 5, Burlington, died at the C&E Merchandising Warehouse of a heart attack Tuesday evening, Nov. 17, 1987.

He was born Feb. 4, 1928, in Rome, the son of Luther and Maggie Sammons Christner. On Nov. 12, 1948, in Frankfurt, Germany, he married Else Gardner.

He was a member of the V.F.W., American Legion, 40&8(?err), Moose, and Eagles. He served in World War II and the Korean Conflict in the Army.

Surviving are his wife; one daughters, Mary Koontz, Mt. Pleasant; five sisters, Mrs. Glen (Evelyn) Talbott, Rome; Mrs. Marie Delzell, Morning Sun; Mrs. Melvin (LuDica) Cox, Arkansas; Mrs. Joan Newman, Lockridge; and Mrs. Robert (Mae) Meth, Mt. Pleasant; two brothers, Ben, Eldon, and Edward, Wayland; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at the Lunning Chapel, Burlington, Friday, Nov. 20, at 1:30 p.m. Chaplain Richard Gilbert will officiate with interment in Aspen Grove Cemetery with military rites. The family will receive friends at the chapel Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. A memorial has been established for the Diabetes Foundation.
