Clara A. Nelson

Clara A. Nelson, daughter of William and Anna Bruns Kaiser, was born August 18, 1908 at Sedora, Ill. and departed this life the morning of Monday, Oct. 26, 1987 at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital, Keosauqua, at the age of 79.

She grew up in the Cantril community and married Leonard V. Nelson Nov. 3, 1928 near Lockridge. They lived their married life in Keosauqua. Mr. Nelson passed away in 1965 and Mrs. Nelson continued to live in the family home, entering the Van Buren Good Samaritan Center seven months ago. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Herman Kaiser and a sister, Freda Wilson.

Surviving are a daughter, Sharon Olney and her husband, Howard and a granddaughter, Cynthia A. Sheets and her husband, Gary all of Iowa City, and six step grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, Henry Kaiser, Memphis, Mo., Albert Kaiser, Peoria, Ill., and Walter Kaiser, Milton, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Nelson was a member of First Lutheran Church, Fairfield and the Izaak Walton League.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct. 28, 1987 at 11 a.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, with Rev. John Meyer officiating. Interment was in Maple Grove Cemetery, Cantril. A memorial was established for the Van Buren Good Samaritan Center Van Fund.
