John V. Cochran

John V. Cochran, son of John and Eva Gustine Cochran was born March 16, 1921 near Memphis, Missouri and departed this life early the morning of Thursday, October 15, 1987 at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Iowa City at the age of 66.

Most of his life was spent in and around Mount Sterling. He was a retired auto mechanic and had worked at Keosauqua Motors and Daniels Chevrolet in Kahoka, Missouri. He was an Army veteran of World War II. John married Edna Irene Wolfe, December 22, 1941 in Memphis.

Surviving are his wife; five sons, Emmett and Michael of Mount Sterling, Lonnie of Arbela, Missouri, David of Memphis, Missouri and Jimmy of Columbia, Missouri; and a daughter, Beth, at home. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two sisters, Dorothy McDavid and Sylvia Cochran, both of Bonaparte and a brother, Robert of Mount Sterling.

A son, Roger, a daughter, Sandra, a sister Helen Watkins and a brother Hollis, preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Saturday, October 17, 1987 at 1:30 p.m. in the Mount Sterling United Methodist Church with Reverend Andrw Rubenking officiating. Interment with military honors in charge of Sargeant-Osweiler Post 563 American Legion of Bonaparte, was in Harness Cemetery near Mount Sterling. A memorial was established and arrangements were in charge of Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua.
