Parley Small

Memorial services for Parley Small, 69, Farmington, were held Monday, November 2, 1987 at the Farmington United Methodist Church. The Reverend James Rozendaal officiated.

Mr. Small died at 11:50 a.m. Wednesday, October 28, 1987 at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital, Keosauqua. He had donated his body to medical science at the University of Iowa.

He was born August 27, 1918 in McDonough County, Illinois. He was a farmer. He moved to Farmington from Packwood, Iowa in 1981. He was a member of the Farmington United Methodist Church and the Fairfield Elks Lodge. An Air Force veteran of World War II, he was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.

On November 19, 1944 at Packwood, he married Virginia Edmund, who survives.

Also surviving are a son, James Small, Ottumwa; a daughter, Mary Hilyar, Long Beach, California; a brother, Radford Small, Libertyville, Iowa and three step-grandchildren.

His parents were James Daton and Alice Smith Small.

A memorial is being established with the Diabetes Foundation.
